If you’re Josh, then you’ll know that I’ve been trying to come up with the inspiration for a blog post for a couple of days now. For those of you who aren’t Josh, then let me explain my blogging style. (Examples courtesy of Josh)
Some bloggers, Dave for example churn out blog posts on an everyday basis. Others adopt a Monie style, only posting every couple of weeks, and can sometimes go a month without posting. I on the other hand write a few posts at a time and then have a quiet period of a few days before spitting out a couple more posts.
If you look at the last post, you’ll see that it was written on Tuesday, which means that this post just came in time to keep up my two posts a week tradition. For the last couple of days my hours have been filled with Facebook, Myspace, Skype and World of Warcraft, so all in all it’s been a productive week. Sure social networking sites are evil, but what else can you do when you’re in the Philippines and none of your friends are around? Besides Myspace and Facebook gave me the inspiration for this post, so they can’t be all evil can they?
Anyway, I’m sure you’re curious what the title up there meant, and it was something that occurred to me while I was browsing (read “stalking”) people’s Myspace profiles and came across some pictures that Adam had taken at Big Camp this year. Now unfortunately for me, I had clinicals scheduled for the week that Big Camp was on. There was also the problem that the guys that I went with last year didn’t seem to want to go this year. Now I don’t know why they didn’t want to go, I had a blast last year, with stealing mattresses to lie down in the sun, playing poker in the biiiiiig tent with the cafe in it and buying multiple bottles of lemon, lime and bitters everyday.
There are heaps of other times where we had as much fun, but there were also those times when we could have done stuff but didn’t because we were “too tired” or just “couldn’t be stuffed”. Which brings me back to the title of my post.
The one thing you should never, ever do, whether in college or everyday life, is to pass up the chance of making a memory. And when you are making one, make sure you have a way to remember it. Your camera is your friend. Take pictures, make movies do everything you can to capture the moment! Because after it’s passed, all you’ll have left to remind you of the fun you had are the memories in your head, and if you’re like me, then those fade away way too quickly.
I found this video a few minutes ago, and it almost made me tear up. Give it a watch and then go tell your mum how much you love her.
And then buy her Animal Crossing.
EDIT: Chip wrote a really good post in participation with Robert’s group writing projects entitled “What I learned from high school football”, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Really, it did. Click on over and give it a read.
